    Who Are You at Neutone?

Hello everyone, my name is Bogdan and I am one of the founding engineers at Neutone. I completed a MSc in Artificial Intelligence in Amsterdam and joined Qosmo after graduating, which eventually led to Neutone. Like many others on the team I play some music: I’m part of our steadily growing group of guitar players and have in more recent years started playing a traditional flute originating from Romania – the Caval.

    What Do You Work on?

Nowadays I work on maintaining and improving our SDK for Neutone FX which will soon also support offline models through Gen. Sometimes I build and release models for FX myself, but often I help other people to wrap their own models either directly or indirectly through holding presentations and workshops. Other less visible work includes designing and implementing various processes in the backend of our systems across the entire catalogue of products.

    Why are you doing this?

Working at the intersection of music and technology has been one of my dreams and I am grateful to be able to do that at Qosmo and Neutone. Throughout the work at Qosmo we’ve been able to work with various big names in the audio space, but with Neutone I hope we can have a more direct and significant connection to artists and musicians. AI is a new technology that we are all eager to experiment with and especially through projects like FX and Gen I hope we not only enable more creators to get hands-on experience with the cutting edge but also provide the researchers with a platform to easily share their work with musicians.

What do you hope Neutone Morpho offers artists/musicians?

It is often said that uncertainty and surprise play a big role in our enjoyment of music. Due to its underlying technology Neutone Morpho is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before and I hope it will offer musicians the opportunity to explore a new world of sounds that will inspire them to venture onto new paths into their journey.

    What’s next in store!?

It’s an exciting time right now with the official release of Morpho coming out, followed shortly by Cocoon which will let artists train their own models bringing a new level of interaction. On a longer timeframe, we’re planning more direct collaborations with artists as well as the release of Gen and updates to FX to foster our community. A hardware version of Neutone is also a hot topic of debate within the team recently.

What are you listening to these days? 🎧

Hard question to answer. I always gravitate around jazz, rock, metal, psych, funk, hip-hop with some electronic sprinkled in. Fearless Flyers and Glass Beams have just released new albums in the past couple of months and I’ve recently found out about GOAT and State Azure which both produce mesmerizing work but in very different ways. Besides these, Igorrr still finds its way back into my playlists under some form and it’s always fun to check out what new thing Sevish comes up with through his constant releases.
