    Who Are You at Neutone?

Hello I’m Mike! I’ve been a design intern at Neutone since January 2024. I study interaction design and visual art at Tama University in Tokyo. My last project led me to understand the importance of sound, so I thought that Neutone was the perfect environment to learn more about sound, the way it’s made and the possibilities of its expansion.

    What Do You Work On?

I support the design team on just about everything and take what I see to develop and expand my creativity. Right now we’re gearing up for Morpho to launch, so that’s taking a lot of my time. I’m also working with the team on some educational content we’ll put out in the future, as well as, our Artist Series, where we interview amazing creatives and get their story!

    Why Are You Doing This?

To see, discuss, experiment and learn how visuals can shape a unique user interaction. I really enjoy making graphics for sound products as I feel like it’s more free to design when the users are the artists. And it’s inspiring me with my own sound-to-visual works too! I’m working on my personal project which is related to the visual, sound, spatial expression and everyone at Neutone seems like a supervisor for it haha!

What Do You Hope Neutone Morpho Offers artists/musicians?

I hope people invent the uses that we’ve never expected and that leaves an effect on an interesting sound world.

    What’s Next In Store?!

Well, I believe that as our products continue to evolve and connect, the better the environment will be delivered as promised to all artists. As I’ve been researching and understanding more about the relationship between visuals and sound, I want to use what I discover to create something where all things creatively blend together.

What Are You Listening To These Days? 🎧

I’ve been in a vintage fantasy so recently I got a cassette player and have been playing random old songs. I don’t have many cassettes yet so I visit record stores and seek old showa songs!
